A hundred kilometres up Oodnadatta Road from Coober Pedy
is the turn off to The Painted Desert.
The Painted Desert is a colourful natural display of sandstone
and ochres in hues that artists love to capture. Also part of the Breakaway
country further south, this area receives very few visitors in comparison,
making it totally unspoilt and a photographers delight. It's another one
of those places you have to be in person to truly appreciate.
Cabins are available on the station if you would like to
return and stay overnight or longer.
